Comfort-fit vs standard-fit sizing
The two terms describe the inside shape of a band, and they change what size you should order. Our chart is standard-fit; if you’re buying a comfort-fit ring, read on before you pick a size.

The difference
- Standard-fit: the inside of the band is flat. It contacts more of your finger and is what most size charts (including ours) assume.
- Comfort-fit: the inside is slightly domed/rounded, so the band glides over the knuckle more easily and feels more comfortable, especially in wide rings.
How the size changes
Because a comfort-fit band has less material touching your finger, it fits a little looser at the same number — so you typically take about a quarter to half size smaller in comfort-fit than you would in standard-fit. If you measured against a flat band (or used our standard-fit chart), drop a quarter size for a comfort-fit ring.
Which should you choose?
- Comfort-fit: great for wide bands, larger knuckles, or anyone who finds rings hard to get on and off.
- Standard-fit: slightly slimmer profile; fine for thin bands.
- Either way, size for the specific band — when possible, try the actual width you’ll buy.
Frequently asked questions
Is comfort-fit bigger or smaller?
A comfort-fit band fits looser than a standard-fit band of the same number, so you usually order about a quarter to half size smaller in comfort-fit.
Should I size down for comfort-fit?
Yes — typically by a quarter to half size versus a standard-fit measurement, because the domed interior touches less of your finger.
Is our chart comfort-fit or standard-fit?
Standard-fit. For a comfort-fit ring, take about a quarter size smaller than the chart value.
