Ring size for a wide band
A wide band covers more of your finger, so it feels tighter at the same nominal size. If you normally wear a thin ring, a wide band in that exact size will likely be too snug.

How much to size up
- Up to ~4 mm: usually no change.
- 5–7 mm: size up about a quarter size.
- 8 mm and wider: size up about a half size, sometimes a full size.
Standard-fit vs comfort-fit
Comfort-fit bands have a slightly domed interior, so they slide on easier and can run about a quarter to half size larger than a flat (standard-fit) band of the same label. Our chart is standard-fit; for a comfort-fit ring, you may take a quarter size smaller.
Measure for the band you’ll actually wear
If possible, size with a band of similar width to the ring you’re buying. A plastic ring sizer set with wide sample bands is ideal; failing that, apply the adjustments above to your measured size.
Frequently asked questions
Do wide rings need a bigger size?
Yes. Size up about a quarter size for 5–7 mm bands and about a half size for 8 mm and wider. Wide bands contact more of the finger and fit tighter.
What is comfort-fit ring sizing?
Comfort-fit bands are domed inside and slide on more easily, fitting about a quarter to half size larger than a flat band of the same number. You may take a slightly smaller size.
