Which ring metals can be resized?
Whether a ring can be resized comes down to the metal and the setting. Get this right before buying — especially online — because some popular materials simply can’t be made bigger or smaller.

Easy to resize
- Gold (yellow, white, rose): resizes readily up or down.
- Silver: resizes easily.
- Platinum: resizes well, though it costs more to work.
Hard or impossible to resize
- Tungsten carbide: cannot be resized — exchanged for a new size instead.
- Ceramic: cannot be resized; it can crack.
- Titanium: very difficult; minor down-sizing only at best, often not offered.
- Stainless steel / cobalt: limited and often not worth it.
- Full eternity rings (gems all around): usually can’t be resized regardless of metal.
What to do instead
For non-resizable metals, get sized accurately first — use a printable or on-screen sizer, or a jeweler — and order exactly. Many retailers offer a one-time size exchange on these rings, so check the policy. If you expect your size to change, choose a resizable metal (gold/silver/platinum).

Can a tungsten ring be resized?
