Charts assume the ring finger — but every finger is different. Here's how the others compare, and a converter to lock in the exact size once you've measured.

Finger	How it compares
Ring finger	The baseline most charts assume. Average is about US 6–6½ for women and US 9–10 for men.
Index finger	Usually about a half to a full size larger than the same hand’s ring finger.
Middle finger	Typically the largest of the three middle fingers — often a half to one size above the ring finger.
Thumb	The largest digit. Thumb rings often run 2–4 sizes above your ring-finger size — always measure the thumb directly.
Pinky (little finger)	The smallest. Pinky rings are commonly 1½–2½ sizes below your ring-finger size.
Toe	A different category — toe rings are measured on the toe (often US 2–5) and are frequently adjustable.

Which finger is ring size measured on?

Standard ring sizes assume the ring finger of the relevant hand. For any other finger, measure that finger directly — sizes differ noticeably between fingers.

What size is a thumb ring?
